Fun at Grandma and Grandpa's

Saturday Kate and I went to see my mom and Ed. Kate had a really good time as you can see from the pictures. We walked downtown to the Rochester Farmer's Market and then through the park where there was a festival.

Do you like our sweatshirts? My grandma thought that my mom and I should have sweatshirts with Kate's name and birth date that said "first time mom" and "first time grandma." We didn't wear them downtown since we didn't want to get beat up.

Kate's ready for the long weekend...

Kate is looking forward to hanging out this weekend and having Monday off. Today she was at Erin's and had lots of fun playing with Gillian (she's 4) and Grace (she's 2.5). They just adore Kate and never want her to leave. They took a walk in the park and then napped. Jamisen took Kate to physical therapy today and the therapist says she's improving a lot. We played on her palymat when she got home. She had her bath and then she fell asleep really early at 7:30 so she was really tired. Hopefully she doesn't wake up too early---last night she slept from 9-4 which was really good.

This weekend was pretty uneventful. We mostly just hung out at home. Grandma and Grandpa came to see Kate on Sat and babysat while we went to Costco. It was pretty exciting.

This video is me playing with Kate. She looks cute in her outfit but I don't think I had even showered yet. She loves to drool so I always ask her for slimy kisses....

Back to work

Thursday was my first day back at work. So far things are going really well. Kate had a good time at Carolyn's on Thurs and drank her bottles without any issues. She was smiling and having a good time when Jamisen picked her up. Today she is at Erin's for half the day and then Jamisen will be home with her. She seems to be adjusting well to me going back to work, I'm not sure she even knows I'm gone. I'm glad it was a short week, I miss her when I'm at work but I'm pretty busy so it goes by fast.

Kate is 3 months old!

Kate is 12 weeks old today so we had a brief photo shoot. Tomorrow I will be going back to work so Kate will be going to Carolyn's. I'm going to miss her but at least this will be a short work week.

My play mat and Stanley

Kate really likes her play mat and her favorite toy Stanley. Stanley is the red monkey toy that we hang from things. She'll stare at him for a long time. She also really likes her black and white book, the butterfly is her favorite.

Long nap

I guess Kate is tired after waking up last night at 12, 1, 3, and 6 so she has been napping for 3 hours. I hope this doesn't keep happening or I am going to be sooooo tired at work. I will definitely be needing some coffee this week. Kate will be going to Carolyn's on Thursday and Erin's on Friday while I am at work. We went over to Carolyn's yesterday and Kate took the bottle from her no problem which definitely makes me feel better about going back to work. Kate will only be at Erin's for 1/2 day on Friday since Jamisen has a test at school. I'm sure she will be fine but I will really miss spending all day with her.

I hope she wakes up soon so we can take a walk in the park.

Kate is going to be a thumb sucker

After finding her thumb last week, Kate is really enjoying sucking her thumb. I think she will definitely be a thumb sucker which will probably be a hard habit to break later on. Since she doesn't like any pacifiers I guess this is a way for her to sooth herself and drool everyway. As everyone who has held Kate lately knows she is drooling a lot lately.

She is also really starting to enjoy her toys more. She is starting to sort of reach for her toys but more often she just accidentally hits them and grabs on. She definitely is starting to pull hair and she's got quite a grip. She likes her playmat because it has lights, music, and sounds. I hang her favorite toy from it and she's pretty happy. Unfortunately, she likes the most annoying setting which is called "silly sounds". After listening to that about 100 times, it will make you crazy but Kate loves it. Of course, we'd do anything for her so silly sounds it is.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today we went over to my mom's to celebrate Mother's Day. Kate has been refusing to take a bottle for the last week. Prior to that she didn't seem to mind taking a bottle. Since I will be going back to work last week I was nervous that she was suddenly refusing the bottle. Jamisen tried several times this week and she just cried herself to sleep and would refuse to eat. So today we decided that we would wait her out and try yet again to get her to take a bottle. She cried for about an hour and then fell asleep. When she woke up I tried to feed her in her car seat without her seeing me. She started to cy again so I picked her up and faced her forward. Once she calmed down, I gave her the bottle. After a few tries she started eating and I'm sure she was hungry since it had been about 4 hrs since her last meal. While she was eating her bottle, she filled her diaper. It went through her onesie and pants and also all the way up her back. After cleaning her up and changing her clothes she was pretty happy.

After we got home I fed her and she seemed happy for a while. Then she started to get cranky again. Jamisen heated up a bottle and she took it without hesitation. I took a picture to prove it. Hopefully her phase of refusing the bottle is now over.

Kate found her thumb!

After weeks of searching and hitting herself in the face, Kate has finally found her thumb. I didn't necessarily want her to be a thumb sucker but she hates her pacifer so I guess she needs some way to comfort herself.

The pictures aren't that great because I was trying to take the picure without her seeing me. Plus, she was swinging and I didn't want to stop the swing. As soon as I did stop it, she wouldn't do it again. I'm trying to get her to take a nap but she just wants to eat her thumb.

First time at the zoo!

Today Kate and I went to the zoo with Carolyn and Audrey. Kate probably

won't remember it but I had fun. Next year she'll be more into it. It was the perfect day for the zoo, warm and sunny but not too hot. Kate had her sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen on so hopefully she didn't get too much sun. I thought she would be exhausted after her big day at the zoo but it's 2:30 and she only slept for about 20 min at the zoo. Hopefully that means she'll sleep good tonight.

I should be updating the blog more....

I've been pretty bad at updating the blog lately. Below is a video of Kate. Since I am both the camera person and trying to entertain her it's kind of wobbly in spots. Anyway I'm just trying to enjoy spending the last full week at home with her. I will be going back to work next Thurs :(

I'm really going to miss Kate. As you can see in the video, she thinks I'm hilarious.

I love physical therapy

Kate is going to physical therapy twice a week since she turns her head right most of the time. Her muscles are getting stiff and the doctor wants to prevent her from getting a flat spot. So we are taking her twice a week to do stretches. She seems to like it.
